PUBLIC AFFAIRS
CAP recognized early that the legislative and political climate bears greatly on liability issues in California. We retain lobbyists to watch proposed legislation and protect MICRA from attacks. Through state and federal political action committees (PACS), CAP ensures that when it is time to bear witness to our elected representatives, the physicians’ collective voice will be heard. CAP also seeks new partners in the defense of MICRA and other tort reform issues by participating and assuming leadership roles in such coalitions as Californians Allied for Patient Protection (CAPP), the Civil Justice Association of California (CJAC), the Health Care Liability Alliance (HCLA), and the Physicians Insurers Association of America (PIAA).
